About Us
The Sandhills Baptist Association was formed in 1949 from the Sandy Creek Association. Our churches are primarily in Moore County but some are also located in neighboring Harnett, Hoke, and Lee Counties. These congregations serve the residents of small cities, villages, and open countryside. They are multi-ethnic and multi-generational. They support missions next door and to the farthest points of our globe. They are always ready to welcome you.
To promote the gospel of Jesus Christ by working cooperatively with member churches to promote Christian unity, fellowship, spiritual formation and Christian mission in affiliation with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, the Southern Baptist Convention and other followers of Christ of like faith and order.
To see the extension of God's redemptive purpose through evangelism, education, and Christian service beyond the local church.
As Baptists, we seek to present the Gospel of Christ in a way that is consistent with biblical faith and our Baptist heritage in a way that respects the person while still challenging them to become who God calls them to be.

Don Cherry
Association Mission Strategist
Don came to the Sandhills Baptist Association in 2022. Taking on a new challenge as the Association Mission Strategist. Don is a native of Toledo Ohio who upon graduation from High School entered bible college in Springfield, MO. He graduated with a graduate of music degree going on to serve churches in the areas of music and youth. It was here that he met his future wife who hails from Hobbs NM. Don went on to earn a BA from Temple Baptist College in Cincinnati followed by a MA from Trinity Theological Seminary. He has served as support staff for 20 years and served in the Lead Pastor role for 27 years. He has always enjoyed serving with and ministering to pastors and looks forward to building relationships, strengthening ministers and helping churches of the SBA to more effectively do Kingdom work through partnership and "Better Together" opportunities. Don and Debbie have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
CHRIStina Lutz
Office Administrator
The first smiling face you see when you enter the office, Christina has been with the Sandhills Baptist Association since 2023 and performs the day to day administration of the association including most of the weekly communications. She is married to one of our member church pastors and enjoys serving God to fulfill the mission He has for her.
DIANNA DAVIS
Financial Administrator
Serving since 2019 performing all the financial responsibilities needed by the Sandhills Baptist Association. Dianna also serves as office manager at one of our member churches..
